GIVING GOD OPPORTUNITY

We often read the passage Malachi 3:8-12 with the emphasis on the tithe. The tithe is symbolic of our obedience to what God requires of us in our stewardship response to His word.

There is another great discovery in the passage and that is Giving God the opportunity to fulfill His promise to us. The Lord says, “Prove Me”. The phrase prove me, means to give me opportunity, put me to the test, provide me the challenge to rise to the occasion to show you that I will do what I said. How often do you give God the opportunity to fulfill his promise to supply all your needs, to strengthen you when you get weak, or to lead you in the path of righteousness for His namesake? Too often, we take the lead, instead of waiting on Him to show the way. Sometimes because of our impatience, we refuse to wait and trust (rely, depend on, believe in) Him to show up. We often fail to take God at His word and in fact, question whether He can do what He promised. God Himself states that if we would just give Him the opportunity, if we would only walk in the path of His righteousness and not question Him according to our weakness and ability; we would see that in every situation God does what He says He will do.

Today prove that you can count on God day after day. Give Him the opportunity to demonstrate that He will stand by His Word. What opportunity will you give to God to display in your life? Write it on the lines below.

(Example) I will give God the opportunity to show me how He will bless me in regards to my children by loving them according to His word. Ephesians 6:4.
